What is Nawrooz?
In harmony with the rebirth of nature, the Persian New Year Celebration, or Nawrooz, always begins when the season changes from winter to spring on the vernal equinox which usually happens on 20th or 21st March each year.
Why do the dates vary for Vernal Equinox?
The Vernal equinox would occur on the same day every year if the Earth took exactly 365 days to make a complete revolution around the Sun. But this is not the case. It takes the Earth about 365.25 days on average to go around the Sun once. The Gregorian Calendar accounts for this by adding an extra day—the leap day—almost every 4 years.
This means that each March equinox occurs about 6 hours later than the previous year's March equinox. This is why the date of the equinox can change from year to year.
First day of spring 2022, the Vernal Equinox occurs on March 20th at 15:32 UTC.
What is the Nawrooz Kit?
On Nawrooz people cook certain dishes and one of the most common one is Sabzi Polo or Herb Rice. The herb mixture consists of Corriander, Dill, Parsley.
The rice is very aromatic and is served with fish or if you are a vegetarian you can substitute it with Kookoo Sabzi, her frittata.
This year is our second year which we are doing the Nawrooz kit and it is even more exciting
with TAHDIGLOVER NAWROOZ KIT you can perfect the Sabzi Polo in the very famous TAHDIGLOVER POTS and finish your meal with premium quality tea from North of Iran and Gaz from Isfahan. What is Gaz? have you heard of Nougat? well, 10 times better filed with lots of pistachios!
The Kit comes with all the essentials including 5g Saffron!
Gaz is a souvenir of Isfahan a city in central Iran. Gaz comes in pistachio or almond filling however Gaz with pistachio is the most common and it can range from 18% to 42% which indicates the amount of pistachio in each piece. We have of course chosen the best and included the 42% Gaz in our kits.
You can now double up the Gaz, Tea, and Saffron when purchasing the kit.
